Support
Brilliancy shows you real positions from real grandmaster games, paused at the move that decided them, and asks you to find that move. Every answer is checked against a chess engine before the position ever reaches you.
Email team@herenowlabs.xyz with anything at all: a bug, a position that looks wrong, a feature you want, or a request to delete your account. A person reads every message and we aim to reply within two business days.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. The feed, the opening journeys, and the leaderboard all work signed out. Signing in is optional and only keeps your rating and streak across devices, and unlocks puzzles from your own games.
Can I play a full game?
Not in Brilliancy, and that is deliberate. There is no playable board and no opponent here. When you want to play, the app links you out to Chess.com. Brilliancy does one thing: it shows you the moment a strong player found something, and gives you a chance to find it too.
How do I get puzzles from my own games?
Sign in, then open My games: in the app it is in the feed switcher at the top of the screen, and in a browser it is in the navigation beside the feed. Enter your Chess.com username and the same pipeline that mines grandmaster games will mine yours, finding the moments where your games actually turned.
How does the rating work?
Everyone starts at 1200. Solving a position raises your rating and missing one lowers it. Giving up and peeking at the engine evaluation both count as losses, because a rating that only counts your wins is not a rating. The leaderboard ranks everyone by that same number.
A position looks wrong. What do I do?
Email us the position and what you expected. Answers are engine-verified, but the choice of which moment in a game matters most is ours, and we would rather hear about a bad one.
What data do you keep, and how do I delete it?
If you never sign in, everything stays on your device. If you do sign in, we store a display name, an optional avatar you choose, an opaque id from your sign-in provider, and your progress. If you signed in with an email address, we store that address so we can send you a code the next time you sign in. We only email you anything else if you asked us to, and you can turn that off in your profile at any time.
You can delete your account yourself at any time. In the app: open Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. In a browser: go to deleting your account and use the button there, which also sets out exactly what is removed and what stays. If you have already uninstalled the app, email team@herenowlabs.xyz and we will do it for you. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.
Do you have a web version?
Yes, and it is the whole product. playbrilliancy.com runs the same feed, guessing, rating, journeys, and leaderboard in any browser, with nothing to install.
